Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI) has a job opportunity for an Accounting Analyst to be located in Lancaster, PA. The Accounting Analyst will be responsible for general and manufacturing accounting activities for both US and Canada business support functions with focus on providing world-class customer service to internal customers. Additionally, the Accounting Analyst will be responsible for assisting in the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing process for the business, including the consolidation and reporting responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities of the Accounting Analyst:

  • Interpreting Canada and Architectural Specialties rebate programs for business and manage calculations and accruals
  • Managing Canada and Architectural Specialty sales incentive calculation files and accruals
  • Preparing and/or auditing account reconciliations applicable to area of responsibility for general ledger and sub ledger accounts
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of actual, estimate, budget and strategic plans as assigned, capturing details required for financial analysis and reporting for both the P&L and Balance Sheet activities
  • Preparing actionable reporting and analysis to support the company’s financial closings and internal/external reporting processes– complete activities and provide reporting and analysis in accordance with agreed upon service level requirements
  • Supporting and providing the appropriate level of oversight and review for activities performed by offshore accounting service provider
  • Ensuring all schedules /deadlines are met on time and are accurate in accordance with requirements
  • Communicating with colleagues at various locations (within Americas region & foreign entities) to resolve issues and closing discrepancies and follows through with appropriate action
  • Recommending, developing and implementing changes to continually improve processes, support standardization, and the effectiveness of the finance team
  • Documenting policies, procedures, workflow, and checklists for assigned responsibilities
  • Confirming and abiding by all regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures
  • Providing SOX compliance and audit reviews


Required Qualifications for the Accounting Analyst:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting with 2+ years of accounting experience or High School Diploma or equivalent with 10+ years of equivalent accounting working experience
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to ascertain the reasonableness and accuracy of information
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite – particularly MS Excel
  • Ability to work cross functionally with other groups within Armstrong
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities; must be a self-starter and take the initiative in completing projects and assignments
  • Excellent written and verbal communications with the ability to share knowledge at appropriate levels of the organization
  • Customer focused with strong attention to detail and capable of delivering accurate, quality results in a timely, consistent, and professional manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact comfortably and respectfully with all levels of plant and business personnel


Desired Qualifications for the Accounting Analyst:

  • SAP/ BW and Hyperion experience
