The Advancement Division at Babson College is in the process of starting a comprehensive capital campaign and it's a great time to join our team of over sixty staff members.


The Advancement Designer is responsible for developing and implementing highly creative materials that represent the Babson brand and effectively promote the Advancement Office, including alumni and friends, campaign, and development. As part of the Advancement Communications team, he/she supports the Associate Director of Advancement Communications in conceptualizing and executing effective creative solutions—from inception through final production for Advancement. Specifically responsible for creating/editing a wide range of materials that support Advancement's overall marketing strategies and represents and complies with Babson's brand guidelines and standards.

• Support all design needs of the Advancement Communications Team.
• Collaborate with members of the Creative Services and Integrated Content Strategy teams within the Office of Marketing, as well as internal clients, to conceptualize and execute creative solutions to support a wide variety of programs, promotions, advertising, direct marketing, and events.
• Share design concepts, comps, and final design files with the Director of Creative Services with sufficient time for review and revision for quality and brand alignment.
• Work individually, and as part of cross-functional team to plan, analyze, and recommend creative concepts and executions across all types of media, using color, images, typography, photography, illustrations, animation, materials, and various layout techniques.
• Create wide range of creative and compelling communications inclusive of solicitations, logs, brochures, campaign collateral, stewardship pieces, and event collateral.
• Maintain high productivity and accuracy, while completing assignments in accordance with agreed upon goal.
• Identify opportunities for design process enhancement and implement improvements.
• Use the Office of Marketing's project management system (JIRA) to record and maintain project details, including the devotion of human resources, so that the team can plan appropriately and work continuously to reduce workflow inefficiencies.
• Establish and manage relationships with printers and other external production vendors; provide bidding estimates to clients and accounting; prepare and transmit production files to external vendors.
• Assume additional responsibilities as required.

 

 

Education Requirements:
Minimum Level of Education Required Bachelor's Degree in Design or Graphic Arts (or closely related field)
Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements:

 

 

• Minimum of 3 years of professional graphic design experience within a design firm or as part of an in-house design department.
• Must possess excellent conceptual skills and design abilities.
• Ability to work on projects covering multiple marketing sectors and be able to articulate creative strategies and communicate ideas effectively to individuals across areas of Advancement.
• Establish and maintain relationships with a professional presence.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with design counterparts within the Office of Marketing's Creative Services team; focusing on producing high quality results; and continually upgrading his/her skills and knowledge relative to design concepts, practices and tools, and stay abreast of new trends and technologies.
• Must be able to manage a high volume of projects effectively and work in an extremely fast-paced environment.
• Must have strong production skills for print and web and ability to take design from concept to print.
• Must be skilled in print file preparation/preflight.
• Must have experience with print vendor management.
• Must have an understanding of web standards (HTML experience a plus), and web design skills.
• Must have a positive attitude, strong organizational skills, and outstanding attention to detail.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite in Mac environment (advanced knowledge of InDesign is a must!).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a team player as well as have the ability to work independently.
• Must be committed to customer service.
• Must have a strong work ethic and professional disposition.
• Must have a strategic understanding of goals and customer needs and be process and quality minded.
• Ability to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks that support Entrepreneurial Thought & Action; take thoughtful risks; and accept new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results
• Ability to anticipate and embrace change; demonstrate willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions
• Strong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

Additional Experience, Skills & Abilities:
• Experience in Advancement, Alumni Relations, or Campaign preferred
