Merck continues to increase the use of digital channels to market to customers.  Given the rapid pace of change within the healthcare environment and the dynamically changing digital landscape, it is critical for Merck to have the digital capabilities that effectively and efficiently build and deploy digital resources to enable strategic priorities for Merck’s Franchise/Brand teams. 

The Associate Director, Digital Channel Lead has primary responsibility to continue to evolve our digital promotional capabilities through improved technologies and processes.  This role has a high degree of empowerment and autonomy to help define the channel strategy, translate the strategies into workable solutions to meet customer needs while working to define the appropriate guidance and standards to ensure digital marketing resources are meaningful and compliant.

Key responsibilities of an Associate Director, Digital Channel Lead, include the following:
  • This role supports Merck’s broad portfolio of products across the US Market Business Units (Hospital/Specialty and Primary Care/Women’s Health BUs, as well as the Vaccines and Oncology CBLs)       
  • Design, develop and implement capability rollouts from strategy inception to deployment
  • Provides strategic oversight and input into the capability roadmap
  • Defines customer experience for the channel and channel standards 
  • Lead pilots for new channel innovations with brand teams
  • Responsible for development and evolution of Channel Standards, including oversight of the development and approval of channel documentation and training/education of the standards
  • Partners with Legal and Regulatory to develop the channel/capability guidance and standards 
  • Input / oversight of vendor selection and may manage vendors 
  • Defines business requirements for technology platforms: suitability assessment and best practices, ideal role within the overall engagement strategy for each type of customer
  • Continually assess and bring forward new trends in digital marketing to improve customer engagement
  • Change management and leadership to drive the necessary change with the brand, promotion, and PRT teams to ensure successful and effective adoption  
  • Work with Merck’s analytics group to establish data management and analytics to assess and optimize channel performance over time.
  • Set and achieve measurable goals for appropriate use of the channel(s) across the portfolio.


Qualifications

Education: 
  • BA/BS Degree
Required: 
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of combined digital marketing/promotion, project management,  marketing operations, digital innovation
  •  Minimum of three (3) years working in Pharmaceutical and / or regulated industry

Preferred:
  • Development and implementation of digital marketing channels
  • Ability to negotiate and influence key stakeholders, and lead without authority
  • Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders 
  • Collaboration and influence - displays strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, has excellent communication and negotiation skills and demonstrates ability to lead, advocate and develop and strengthen business partnerships
  • Strong client, change management, and project management experience , having to manage multiple projects simultaneously and foster collaboration with colleagues
  • Change Management Skills – ability to gain sponsorship for change and work as a change agent to effectively drive change required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Business acumen, problem solving, understanding of marketing process
