The Advanced Solutions Group (ASG) at Leidos currently has an opening for a CAD Drafter / Designer to work at Kirtland, AFB, NM. We are seeking a capable, enthusiastic candidate who enjoys working in a vibrant and challenging research environment. Candidate will work at a variety of government customer locations primarily at Kirtland AFB, NM, in laboratory and field settings. Responsibilities will entail assisting senior engineering staff in designing, generating and reviewing CAD models to furnish a comprehensive assembly for review by Leidos primary research physicists and engineers.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Prepares complete production detail drawings (lays outs/sketches/flow charts/diagrams/schematics, etc.), documentation and reports
- Provides support to engineers on technical projects and collects, maintains, organizes, compiles, and manipulates data to improve quality of product and/or manufacturing operations.
- Creates, builds, assembles, modifies and/or repairs prototype assemblies.
- Performs mathematical calculations per engineering specifications. Undertakes analyses of data where guidelines are provided.
- Recommends alternative solutions to problems and obstacles.


Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below
- AAS degree or Certificate in Engineering Drafting
- Proficient with SolidWorks
- Working knowledge of Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing Systems
- Ability to obtain a Secret government security clearance within 6 months of hire
- Ability to understand and abide by government safety rules and regulations
- Ability to handle unusual and seldom occurring job events with minimal assistance
- Willingness to support several different Leidos customers for both short and long term assignments
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- Competency with standard desktop computer software
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration
- Active DOD or DOE clearance
- Experience with manual and CNC machining equipment (mill, lathe, etc.)
- Experience with vacuum/pneumatic systems and controls
- Experience working with hazardous chemicals and gases
- Experience with oscilloscopes, multi-meters, high voltage power supplies, and control systems
- Experience with high voltage
