Department: Outpatient Hematology/Oncology

Responsibilities: The Clinical Assistant is an unlicensed, trained individual who assists in carrying out routine patient care activities, under the supervision of the physician or registered nurse. In ophthalmology, the clinical assistant is in training for an ophthalmic assistant position or is a PRN person who assists in carrying out routine patient care under the supervision of the physician or ophthalmology supervisor.


Qualifications: EDUCATION : High School diploma or GED required.Medical Terminology Course helpful. EXPERIENCE : One to two years experience in clinical setting preferred.BLS required within 6 months of date of hire.



Additional Qualifications: COMPETENCY: JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must demonstrate knowledge of basic computer skills. May include training in: Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Internet Explorer, electronic timekeeping, and Microsoft Word. ADDL CONSIDERATIONS: Physical requirements as outlined by Employee Health Physical Assessment Form. Must be able to flex hours to meet the demands of the clinical area if required by the department.

Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
Hours/Pay Period: 80
Schedule Details: Monday-Friday; Hours vary between 6:00am-6:30pm
