Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity for an Electrical Engineer in Marietta, PA. Reporting to the Plant Engineering and Capital Manager, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for providing technical services relating to manufacturing equipment and processes, including daily production line technical support. The Electrical Engineer will also identify and execute process improvements and cost reduction opportunities, and the design, management, and execution of capital projects for that production line, or value stream.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer:

· Proactively providing control and instrumentation assistance to the manufacturing value stream in terms of production processes and systems, equipment, and maintenance

· Serving as a technical resource to the maintenance staff and assisting in troubleshooting and training on programmable logic controllers (PLCs), servos, drives, human machine interfaces (HMIs), etc.

· Safely planning and executing capital projects per agreed cost, schedule, and performance metrics

· Software programming and upgrading hardware for production equipment including instrumentation, drives, PLC, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and HMI systems

· Actively participating as a member of the Plant Value Stream Team to drive resolution of common cause and special cause issues that negatively impact safety, quality, cost, and/or productivity

· Investigating manufacturing issues in fabrication, board mill or maintenance and recommending corrective action

· Consulting with production personnel, gathering and analyzing data, developing corrective actions, and following through on recommendations to evaluate their effectiveness and sustainability

· Serving as the plant contact for AWI project teams outside the facility, representing the needs of the plant to AWI project teams and communicating critical issues needing resolution back to the plant

· Applying Precision Maintenance concepts and principals to all work performed

· Sharing technical knowledge where appropriate to other plant personnel to elevate the organization’s understanding and performance

 

Required Qualifications for the Electrical Engineer:

· Bachelor's degree in controls engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics or similar field

· 2+ years experience in controls and/or electrical engineering in manufacturing environment

· PLC experience, specifically with the Allen-Bradley platform

· HMI experience

· Motor control (variable-frequency drives, soft starters, and/or wye-delta starters) and servo systems experience

· Knowledge of instrumentation and controls

· Hands-on experience managing an industrial Ethernet network and knowledge of protocols such as Modbus, DeviceNet, and/or DH+

· Experience with Wonderware application programming and support

· Excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office programs

· Project management experience

 

Desired Qualifications for the Electrical Engineer:

· Engineer in Training (EIT) and/or Professional Engineer (PE) certification

· Lean Practitioner certification and/or experience

· Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

· Experience with WonderWare and PanelView

· Data management system experience

· Experience with SAP, Minitab, and AutoCAD software

· Experience with pick-and-place robotic systems

· Hands-on knowledge of FANUC robot capabilities and programming
