Core Responsibilities:  The Ethics and Compliance Officer at APi Group will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the Board of Directors and will be responsible for oversight of the operations and effectiveness of APi Ethics and Compliance programs.   API Group, and its 40 plus independently managed construction companies, is a complex organization with a diverse workforce.

The Ethics and Compliance Officer will provide executive oversight and is responsible for the continuous improvement of the ethics and compliance program for APi Group and its related entities under the direction of the board of directors and with the guidance and support from the CEO and Senior Executive Team.   This includes compliance with all laws and regulations, including all Federal, State and Locally funded contracting requirements, Company’s code of conduct and conflict of interest policies, contracting policies and procedures, compliance of corporate ethical expectations, workplace environment and safety requirements, and employment and fair wage practices.   The Ethics and Compliance Officer will lead and ensure the program is aligned around the seven elements describe in the Federal Sentencing Guidelines and ensure we have efficient and effective internal policies, controls, and monitoring systems.   The role will include the responsibility of developing and accessing ethics and compliance training, ensure adequate auditing, monitoring, performing annual compliance review, updating our risk assessment, submitting an annual report to the CEO and Board of Directors, investigate allegations relating to compliance matters, develop remediation plans for any compliance issues, and take corrective action in response to instances of identified non-compliance. 

The nature of the work includes building strong relationships with the Senior Executive Team and leaders across the family of companies and helping to serve as a knowledge base relative to compliance for consulting with all levels of employees and management regarding ethics and compliance, being a reference source of compliance policies and initiatives, laws, regulations, ethical standards, conflict of interest policies as applicable, working with and through others in a

 

decentralized environment.   The right candidate will be able optimize a program through leading the Ethics and Compliance Committee and individual company resources with specific skills and expertise across our 40 plus entities.   In addition, the position will advocate for compliant business practices and development of a strong commitment to ethical decision-making.

Reporting

  • Issue timely and complete compliance plans and report findings.
  • Participate in relevant portions of the corporate annual audit.
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company’s ethics and compliance program.
  • Build effective team awareness.
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.

Desired Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have significant experience in compliance leadership roles or related positions and an overall knowledge of compliance programs and planning, familiarity with the construction industry and government contracting, corporate ethics and conflict of interest policies and supporting corporate mechanisms in a decentralized and independently managed organization with a proven track record of working effectively across many levels of the organization to appropriately influence and bring about a positive outcome.

 

Working Conditions: This position will be based in our New Brighton, MN headquarters. The candidate will be expected to travel to our entities to effectively work with our local company management.  Periodic weekend or evening work is expected.
