These positions will be located at Carla Madison Recreation Center. This state-of-the-art, 70,000 square-foot LEED Gold certified facility will be located on the corner of Josephine St. and Colfax Ave in the heart of Denver, Colorado. The center will include an eight-lane lap pool, leisure pool, gymnasium, fitness areas, community gathering spaces, classrooms, dog park, kid watch center and other outdoor amenities. Carla Madison Recreation Center is expected to be an exciting and busting addition to Denver's reputable network of recreation centers.

About Our Job

The key responsibilities of the Gym Attendant at Carla Madison Recreation Center will be:

  • Creating and maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment within the gymnasium and fitness areas serving as a liaison between the facility and users
  • Promoting safety and enthusiasm for the use of Carla Madison Recreation Center by exhibiting superior customer service skills
  • Inspecting gymnasium and fitness area equipment; ensuring proper documentation, reporting and follow through with necessary repairs or maintenance
  • Teach, instruct and/or facilitate after school programs such as, but not limited to: 3-on-3 basketball, climbing, dance, gym games
  • Set up and break down small to large equipment for programs and games
  • Assists in the organization and administration of special events or programs in the gymnasium and fitness areas
  • Ensures fair and equitable use of gymnasium and fitness centers for all participants and recreation center users
  • Other related duties as assigned

About You

We are looking for candidates with a passion and interest in recreation and fitness. Our ideal candidate will possess superior customer service skills and an inclination towards ensuring safety. Additionally, our ideal candidate will possess all or a combination of the following:

  • Experience ensuring efficient and safe operations within a recreation or fitness center
  • Experience demonstrating and facilitating proper use of light to heavy fitness/gym equipment
  • Experience instructing after school programs or games
  • Current possession of a CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Current possession of a Personal Training Certificate from a nationally recognized organization

  • Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate plus six semester hours of course work in a recreation field, elementary or secondary education, behavior management or a related field.
  • Experience Requirement: One year of experience in assisting in the operation and instruction of organized recreation activities.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement. Additional appropriate experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement except for the high school diploma/GED Certificate.
  • Licensure and/or Certification: By position, requires a valid driver's license at time of application. Requires certification in CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire. Licensure and certification must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.

Hiring Range: $14.42 - $16.08 hourly
Assessments / Testing: This position does not require testing.
