Job Summary

  1. Demonstrates exceptional knowledge of and expertise in instructional design and development.
  2. Exhibits expert skills in numerous desktop and other technical software applications. 
  3. Additional applications may include learning management systems, video productions and graphic software programs.
  4. Demonstrates advanced expertise in project management
  5. Possesses knowledge of patient build, training environment and refresh cycle.
  6. Demonstrates advanced proficiency in creating and reviewing detailed work-related documentation.
  7. Leads and manages training projects for both clinical and business applications.
  8. Works independently, educates and evaluates IS Trainers I, II & III, and communicates and collaborates with CHOP staff and leadership.
  9. Manages project teams, interface with clinical end users and clinical and business applications teams.

Job Responsibilities

A Principal IS Trainer has similar responsibilities to IS Trainer III personnel.  However, a Principal IS Trainer is deemed to be the subject matter expert and in-house advisor on complex problems and issues.  A Principal IS Trainer also:

  1. Determines, outlines, manages, and executes project tasks related to implementation and support within established scope, timelines and within budget.
  2. Communicates and partners with leadership and management and establishes productive working relationships with analysts, management, subject matter experts and end users.
  3. Leads training implementation and support projects within the constraints of time, budget, and scope.
  4. Understands and interprets clinical and non-clinical workflows, processes, and terminology in order to translate information into educationally sound training content.
  5. Interfaces with Instructional Technologists to design, develop, and test e-learning.
  6. Collaborates with training project manager on implementation and operational training efforts.
  7. Participates in Leadership meetings, as needed.
  8. Formulates/defines training system scope and objectives for identified applications/programs requiring build and development.
  9. Provides system analysis, programming and technical design for ongoing training environments as identified.
  10. Using knowledge of multiple applications and their interaction, maintains complex application data files and system parameters to optimize performance and functionality.
  11. Replicates and diagnoses complex application issues and recommends or performs remedial actions to correct problems using comprehensive application knowledge.
  12. Reviews new application enhancements/upgrades and assists in development of implementation plans.

Information Security Requirements

  1. Understand and comply with all enterprise and IS departmental information security policies, procedures and standards.
  2. Support the integration of information security in the development, design, and implementation of Hospital Technology Resources that process, transmit, or store CHOP information.
  3. Support all compliance activities related to state, federal regulatory requirements, healthcare accreditation standards, and all other applicable regulations that govern the use and disclosure of patient, financial, or other confidential information.

Required Education and Experience

Required Education:  Bachelor’s Degree

 

Required Experience:

  • Six years of experience designing, developing, and delivering training.

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Experience:

  • Five years of IT, Healthcare, or related experience in a training capacity.                                                                                                                     

                                                                                                                     

Preferred Licenses/certificates/registrations:                                                                                     

  1. EPIC certifications in one or more applications and TED, i.e. Willow, ADT, ASAP, etc.
  2. One or more professional certifications/fellowships, i.e. American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and/or Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
  3. Other relevant Healthcare IS or IS system certification, i.e. Cerner, Lawson, SAP, Microsoft, etc.

Additional Technical Requirements

1.Project and time management skills required.  Technical creativity and strong understanding of information technology in health care required.

2.Presentations experience a must, with large and small groups.  Computer skills required:  Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.

3.Certification based on position (Competent to work at a high technical level in phases of application development and build).

4.Knowledge of e-learning storyboarding/scripting, SCORM assessments, and e learning technology.
