The Senior Specialist for Medical Affairs within Global Human Health IT will perform in an IT Client Services Analyst role partnering with one or more of the Medical Affairs functions (Global Medical Affairs, Oncology Medical Affairs, Vaccines Medical Affairs). This position will develop a strong understanding of the client strategy, identify Information and technology needs, and facilitate the requirements definition to deliver on the strategic intent. The candidate will define processes, and determine project deliverables, schedule, and resource needs for projects.

 

Further the candidate will:

  • Be a trusted IT partner to our Medical Affairs and/or Digital business teams:
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand, shape, and surface emerging demand in support of their global business strategy (Engaging appropriate IT Platform personnel.)
  • Identify, evaluate, and select/recommend solutions in line with new and evolving business priorities and IT platform standards.
  • Develop an understanding of our business needs and ensure roadmaps align to support near term and long term capabilities
  • Participate on delivery of projects :
    o Act as a liaison between various IT teams and business partners to drive results and communicate opportunities/issues.
    o Facilitate discussions/workshops with business partners to understand current and future state business processes/requirements
    o Develop and own Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) document artifacts. Mentor/train contractor team members on SDLC policies and practice.
    o Develop and own underlying business process maps and their technology touchpoints
    o Thinking One Merck - Challenging the status quo by helping Merck adopt common business processes and best practices in many areas
    o Drive benefits realization
    • Improve the flow of knowledge to, from, and within GHH IT CoE and our stakeholders by promoting GHH initiatives and applications helping ensure their adoption (Change Management)
    • Keep abreast of external business and technology trends to help shape business strategy and execution
    • Grow into IT Account Manager or IT Portfolio Manager
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field preferred.

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in IT account management, business architecture and analysis, and/or client relationship management within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Self-motivated team player to both coordinate demand across platforms, tools, and capabilities and to promote global IT services aligned to our IT strategy.
  • Strong facilitation, meeting/workshop management, and change management skills.
  • Ability to identify and influence the changes necessary to ensure solution adoption and value realization.
  • Demonstrated applied strategic thinking/planning and business requirements management (planning, elicitation, documentation, and verification) skills.
  • Business acumen, stakeholder engagement, relationship management, and strategic account planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with and influence a wide variety of stakeholders, from technical to senior executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in ambiguity as a member of a global team.
  • Proven record of working on multiple projects and managing diverging priorities across diverse business teams simultaneously.
  • Awareness of relevant industry business, information and technology trends, in and out of pharma.
  • Fluent in SDLC best practices including experience applying in regulated business areas and processes

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated thought leadership and technology innovation
  • Knowledge of digital asset tools and IT architecture.
  • Network leader - focus on influence rather than control, and creating a work environment based on trust, sharing and collaboration.
  • Experience in running complex workshops aligning people, process and technology.
  • Six Sigma Certification or similar experience with other process improvement methodologies.
