Duties and Responsibilities

 

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in this position will perform all duties under the direct supervision of the School Health Coordinator and the Community Health Nursing Director. The primary work site will be in the school clinics as designated by the School Health Coordinator. Related work activities will be performed on the campuses of the Jefferson Sommerset physical sites to provide for all segments of the School Health Program.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct care of students medical needs when presenting to clinic
  • Provides classroom presentations on health education activities
  • Prepares Daily Service Logs on a daily/monthly basis to be reported to the School Health Coordinator
  • Assists the School Health Coordinator in monitoring strategies for work related goals
  • Assists the School Health Staff in all areas of the program in each school clinic
  • Monitors/evaluates tracking and referral process for at risk students to ensure follow up by parent
  • Serves as parent advocate for students at-risk for identifiable health issues
  • Conducts student/parent surveys to determine the effectiveness of School Health activities
  • Participates in grant writing opportunities to facilitate funding for Jefferson County Health Department as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
