Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Maintenance Planner to be located in Marietta, PA. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and working alongside Maintenance Supervisors, the Maintenance Planner will be accountable to effectively plan and schedule maintenance work to maintain equipment assets at full functionality. The Planner will develop detailed and complex PMs and job plans to drive reliability improvements in support of the plant's business results in the areas of safety, quality, throughput, and costs. Additionally, the Maintenance Planner will coordinate activities of outside contractors and directly managing multiple contractors on scheduled shutdowns while directing maintenance personnel as necessary and act as a relief supervisor for their assigned area.


Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance Planner:

  • Planning work orders; ordering and kitting materials; auditing work to ensure it is completed to standards defined in the job plan
  • Coordinating daily, weekly and down day plans and schedules
  • Setting up maintenance systems for new assets as required including electronic equipment files, BOM, Preventative Maintenance (PM), Vibration, Lubrication, and Thermography
  • Updating the storeroom system with spares for new equipment installations
  • Planning and scheduling work during equipment installation to ensure the quality of the equipment meets the plants’ expectations and equipment is installed in a precision state
  • Identifying special equipment requirements and safety precautions
  • Utilizing predictive technologies to monitor equipment health and to schedule repairs to minimize maintenance costs and downtime
  • Improving PM Master Job Plan quality in terms of content and measurable standards that ensure reliability and process capability
  • Auditing PM’s as they are completed to ensure that they are done correctly and update as necessary through the interaction with the tradesman
  • Developing detailed Master Job Plans for critical repairs – creating a library of critical job plans to ensure effective execution of tasks and improve planning efficiency
  • Handling complex work requests that require application of basic engineering fundamentals and use of basic project management skills
  • Analyzing equipment history and cost information to drive improvements to operating results at lower maintenance costs
  • Auditing and reviewing with the Storeroom work to reduce storeroom carrying costs by identifying obsolete parts, slow moving parts, overstocked parts
  • Following the defined maintenance business processes and the SAP PM system structure
  • Keeping records and SAP data accurate and orderly for high quality histories and usefulness in data analysis
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to increase maintenance effectiveness and efficiency
  • Participating in and facilitate process improvement initiatives that support operating results and cost improvement


Required Qualifications for the Maintenance Planner:

  • High School diploma
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience
  • 3+ years of maintenance planning
  • 3+ years of demonstrated basic maintenance planning and scheduling
  • Computer proficiency in SAP PM, Excel, Word, and Lotus Notes
  • Demonstration of technical application of advanced craft skills and basic engineering fundamentals.
  • Demonstration of basic project management skills
  • Basic understanding of predictive maintenance technologies including; vibrations analysis, acoustics, infrared and motor circuit analysis
  • Effective writing and data organization skills
  • Facilitation and meeting management skills
  • Experience with developing and maintaining a budget
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds


Desired Qualifications for the Maintenance Planner:

  • Green Belt certification is desired and a long-term expectation
  • 3+ years of experience as an industrial craftsman is desired
  • Journeyman Certification in Industrial Maintenance or similar discipline
