Manager – Content Creation & Social Media


 Corporate storytelling is critical to maintaining a strong brand reputation. This role provides vision and leadership for   PSEG content creation and the PSEG digital brand, including social media, intranet, external website, corporate blog and advocacy sites, and digital corporate advertising. Responsible for both direct reports and significant number of non-direct reports.  Oversees content creation (infographics, videos, blogs etc.) for use in internal and external communications, weaving stories to support the corporate brand and initiatives.

Oversees the management of all social channels (Facebook, Twitter, Linked-in, Instagram, YouTube)   MyPseg, Energize! Blog and specific advocacy sites (njneedsnuclear.com, etc.). Oversees strategic direction, evaluation of new tools, content creation, publishing and reporting. Advises senior leaders (Marketing, Customer Operations, HR, Public Affairs, Corporate Security) on PSEG digital brand and responsible for its reputation during times of crisis. Develops strategy and execution of corporate online advertising in support of key company initiatives.

 Specific duties include:


Oversee development and execution of PSEG’s content\story-telling, social media strategy and digital presence.   Responsible for using social media to drive brand awareness, advocacy on corporate issues and engagement that ultimately impacts PSEG customer/stakeholder perception and builds support for its initiatives and programs. Responsible for management of digital/social brand in times of crisis. Develop new channels as necessary.


 Develop content storylines (including photos, infographics, video, text,) for use internally and externally and across    PSEG’s entire digital presence including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, You Tube and Instagram.   Serve as editor of Energize! Blog and manage the development and use of specific advocacy sites, including NJNeedsNuclear. Coordinate with media relations and internal communications teams.

 Manage staff of two and efforts of social media contributors throughout the company. Coordinate with social media efforts of PSE&G, PSEG Long Island and PSEG Nuclear. Responsible for ensuring that messages/content are aligned across internal communications and media relations and are focused on strategic business objectives.

 Serves as the internal functional expert in the digital and social space, advising leaders on strategy and issues and presenting to leads across HR, Legal, Customer Operations, Public Affairs and Corp Security on how social/digital is impacting their functional areas


 Oversee the digital advertising program – on both owned social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and outside publishers (NJ.com, Politico, NJ Spotlight, etc.). Create strategy for what content performs best on each channel, manage advertising budget and report on results. Research, evaluate and recommend new sponsored content platforms for brand engagement or corporate issues advocacy.

Oversee the reporting process on all of these channels and specific campaigns. Translate these results and data for the business leaders. Analyze effectiveness of the channels, posts, advertising and other efforts and change/enhance strategy as necessary.


Basic Qualifications: 

•             Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience)

•             Minimum 10 years working in corporate communications, with minimum of three years involvement in the creation and strategy development of social media.

•             Expert story teller

•             Confident, strategic thinker

•             Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•             Strong creativity, attention to detail and organizational skills

•             Ability to manage direct reports and large number of indirect reports (where social media is just a part of their job responsibilities)

•             Strong executive presence and comfort working with executive stakeholders to gather inputs, develop a point-of-view and action plan, secure cross-functional buy-in and drive execution.

•             Deep understanding of social media and digital strategy and how they integrate into the larger corporate communications strategy

•             Experience in analysis and evaluation of social media campaigns and advertising; translating and reporting on the results to business leaders

•             Ability to coordinate multiple projects at one time, in a fast turnaround environment

•             Experience with online monitoring and measurement platforms such as Facebook Insights, YouTube Insights, Google Analytics, as well as publishing tools such as Sprinklr, WordPress

•             Wide understanding of digital marketing solutions including: digital advertising, web and mobile sites, social media, SEO & SEM, digital media, and analytics


Desired Qualifications: 

•             Degree in Communications, English, Journalism or Social Media

•             15 years working in corporate communications, with minimum of five years involvement in the creation and strategy development of social media.

•             Professional Storyteller

•             Experience as a Digital Content Manager for a Major Corporation
