The Product Planning, Development, and Marketing Group includes all the functional areas that work together to develop instructional materials that meet current pedagogical and market needs for PreK-12. Content is developed for a wide range of media formats, including interactive digital media as well as print. Colleagues within PDM have varying expertise including the following: subject-matter expertise across all academic subject areas, design, art and photo management, production management, quality assurance, content engineering, and permissions and licensing.


HMH is looking for a Manager Digital Presentation.  This role is responsible for managing and directing the presentation development team in the creation of strong visual narratives to serve as sales presentations for HMH content.  He/she will rely on a broad knowledge of design media to develop innovative, interactive sales presentations to set HMH apart from the competition.  He/she will not only craft visually compelling presentations but will also work directly with the Multimedia Group director,  executives and other stakeholders to contribute to the development of a given narrative.


Primary Responsibilites

  • Manage all steps in the presentation development process: manage and direct the presentation development team to generate unique graphics, apply corporate and product-specific brand standards, and implement existing designs to create a uniform visual aesthetic in all deliverables; effectively and efficiently staff projects, provide clear communication and creative direction, and give timely and helpful feedback to improve creative solutions in order to produce work cost effectively and on schedule.
  • Manage the presentation development team in working with Product Marketing, Sales and other stakeholders to identify digital assets to be demonstrated during each presentation and develop scripted demos for live delivery as well as potential failsafe options for back up.
  • Manage the presentation development team in collaborating with Product Management, Product Marketing, and Sales to ensure appropriate messaging is included and that multiple audiences are addressed within each presentation.
  • Integrate product content and messaging from multiple product into a compelling solution-driven sales pitch
  • Lead copywriters to turn product features into customer benefits
  • Partner with Product Marketing and the field to develop the presentation launch roadmap to ensure it is in sync with the product launch roadmap.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5+ years management experience
  • 3+ years of experience managing creative or design work
  • 1+ years in a Presentation Designer role, preferred


Knowledge and Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in Adobe CS suite Advanced Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Advanced PowerPoint
  • Must be masterful in Keynote 
  • Solid understanding of design processes, information display and creative workflow are a must
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to listen, synthesize and process outside input are essential
  • Unflappable under pressure, inquisitive, collaborate and problem-solving are hallmarks
  • An established track record of delivering effective and creative presentation design with limited lead-time is an absolute must
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and to manage time to complete projects within specified timeframes
  • Outstanding portfolio presentations produced (not designed directly)


Working at the New York, Boston or  Orlando HMH office locations is preferred, may consider a home-based remote position.


Physical Requirements

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
