Armstrong Flooring, Inc. (AFI) has a job opportunity for a Procurement Specialist to be located at our Corporate Headquarters in Lancaster, PA. The Procurement Specialist position will have purchasing responsibility for assigned areas and related purchasing value added activities delegated by Purchasing Managers. Primary output is to provide the best value by managing assigned categories; negotiating with suppliers; and assuring purchase commitments are accurately confirmed. Supporting outputs to include providing technical assistance and associated correspondence to key customers and suppliers.


Key Responsibilities of the Procurement Specialist:

  • Manage low – mid spend range supply categories. Identifying and implementing cost savings opportunities.
  • Manage the quality and delivery performance of assigned categories/suppliers
  • Manages the competitive bidding process. Requests quotations/bids, conducts negotiations and issues purchase orders for assigned categories.
  • Interfaces with many different internal functions like product management/marketing, IT, engineering, planning, manufacturing, and quality to provide transactional and strategic purchasing support
  • Lead evaluation & qualification of new suppliers within assigned supply segments
  • Support large scale RFP activities by working closely with the procurement manager(s).
  • Develop and maintain monthly procurement KPI and spend reports; collect and manage data from external (suppliers) resources as well as internal (procurement managers and business ERP systems) resources.
  • Maintain market information / indices for raw materials.
  • Responsible for the management of Procurement Master Data by setting up and maintaining Material Master, Vendor Master, Purchasing Info Record, Source List, Purchasing Groups, Material Groups and Location data to enable accurate SAP functionality.
  • Manage new supplier request, vendor change and material master processes for SAP master data updates.
  • Responsible for acting as the primary liaison to IT for all systems related to Procurement
  • Maintain all Procurement training and procedure documents.
  • Maintain and update Procurement project tracker database
  • Resolve operational and invoicing issues with assigned suppliers


Required Qualifications for the Procurement Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, business, operations, management or a related field required
  • Experience with an ERP system and database management
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism, strong organization skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to identify and initiate areas for process improvement
  • Team player and collaborative attitude, energetic, positive, focused on details/results, determined to perform at a high level
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic project management and negotiating skills
  • Comfortable with daily transactional work in combination with developing and implementing strategic methodologies


Desired Qualifications for the Procurement Specialist:

  • Procurement and/or Supply Chain experience
  • Proficiency in SAP
