Description

Armstrong Flooring, Inc. is a global leader in the design and manufacture of vinyl and wood flooring products. Our Stillwater Plant is located on the northeast side of Stillwater, Oklahoma and produces a variety of different sized vinyl flooring sheet products. The plant employs approximately 100 people and currently operates on a two crew, 12 hour  rotating (two week rotation) shift schedule. Annual production at the Stillwater Plant production is equivalent to more than 6,000 miles of sheet flooring.  

 

 

As a Production Associate at the Stillwater Plant you will work as a member of a highly motivated, engaged work team and will be responsible for the safe and reliable operation of equipment to manufacture vinyl sheet flooring of the highest quality products for our customers. Qualified candidates must be willing to become actively engaged in the manufacturing process and be willing to assume a leadership role within their work team.


Ownership and Participation

  • Operate, maintain, and improve plant production processes and equipment
  • Work with plant employees, outside vendors, contractors, and other resources to improve plant process and equipment
  • Work with plant maintenance and technical staff to proactively improve utilization of resources
  • Demonstrate the ability to work multiple positions throughout the production line
  • Other duties as assigned

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to Production Supervisor
  • Works closely and in cooperation with plant Process and Project Engineers
  • Implements systems compatible with requirements of ISO certification
  • Works closely and in cooperation with other operating teams and focus areas

 

KEY CUSTOMERS AND SUPPLIERS

  • Customers, vendors and suppliers
  • Armstrong Flooring support resources
  • Equipment manufacturers and suppliers / Contractors
  • Other Operating teams / Maintenance Technicians / Plant Resource Group within the plant

 

MEASURES OF EFFECTIVENESS

  • Plant safety performance
  • Process Effectiveness of the Operation (Safety, OEE, Quality, and Cost)
  • Plant cost reduction and  process improvement initiatives
  •  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and correct problems with manufacturing equipment
  • Continuous improvement focus and mentality
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, semi-autonomous environment
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written
  • Electronic Communication skills: ability to effectively use information systems including personal computers, fax and telephones, and other office equipment
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and share information with other work team members and staff
  • Ability to absorb and retain training for multiple positions within the work team
  • Ability to work rotating (every two weeks) 12 hour schedules
  • Ability to work overtime as required

 

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous manufacturing experience
  • Working knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

About the Location (Stillwater, OK):

 

Our Stillwater Plant employs approximately 100 people and operates 24 hours a day, up to 7 days a week. Production teams work a 12 hour rotating shift. The plant manufactures and ships vinyl sheet flooring products.
