Role Summary / Purpose

Alstom has an opening for a Project Safety Assurance Manager (PSAM) in its West Melbourne, FL location. A PSAM is responsible of the management of all the safety activities so that the final Safety Case is built and then approved by the client and/or the Safety Authority. Such Safety Cases must comply with the American/European standards and with the Alstom Safety Instructions. Under the responsibility of the Regional Center Safety Manager, you will be the interface with the project team and possibly with the client. In this role, you will manage the workload and schedule of assigned safety team members under the supervision of the Regional Center Safety Manager.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage hazard analyses required to support identification of safety requirements in accordance with business standards and program / product objectives
  • Develop specific application, generic application and generic product safety cases
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated
  • Participate in teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
  • Share information and promote open dialogue
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business


Qualifications/ Requirements 
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology 
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and/or signaling system engineering

Desired Characteristics
• Master’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
• Proven experience in signaling system engineering 
• Proven experience in system safety engineering
• Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems
• Familiarity with Hazard Analysis per IEEE 1483:2000, MIL STD 882C and/or CENELEC 50126, 50128, and 50129
• Ability to Lead, Train and mentor Junior staff
• Strong Customer relationship and management 
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Professional Engineer
