A creative and innovative scientist with strong analytical skills and current experience in the fields of genomics and proteomics who develops, designs, and tests new biological assays for automated microfluidic instrumentation in a customer-focused team-based environment. This is a 6-month position with potential for extension.


· Drives the development of new biological assays for quantitation & diagnostics and the associated automated instrumentation

· Supports the lifecycle management of existing assays and instrumentation

· Conducts microfluidic assay experiments and analyzes/interprets results

· Develops new concepts and conducts feasibility studies

· Performs and documents new product verification and validation studies

· Works with team members to identify problems

· Interfaces with Field Application Specialists and customers on new product development

· Coordinates purchase and storage of reagents and lab supplies

· Actively maintains professional and technical knowledge at leading edge by seeking out and attending workshops, reviewing technical literature, and participating in professional societies


· BS or MS degree in Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Biology with 1-2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education

· Laboratory experience with molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related field with ability to independently follow experimental protocols

· Direct experience in optimizing and developing protocols/assays in molecular biology

· Demonstrated ability to create and drive ideas to product realization utilizing a stage gate process

· Demonstrated ability to interpret, articulate, and document the results, designs, and tests conducted in a clear and concise manner

· Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team

· Ability to travel up to 5% of the time

Desirable Skills

· Experience with gel electrophoresis, especially CE, genomic & protein analysis and quantitation, DNA & RNA separation and analysis, NGS applications including cfDNA, liquid biopsy, and PCR-free quantitation

· Experience with product development and support in a regulated environment; ISO 13485 preferred

· Understanding of analytical instrumentation and life sciences automation equipment and software

· Familiarity with biotherapeutic research, development and/or manufacturing processes

· Experience with general spectrophotometry and UV/VIS measurements

· Experience with good laboratory practice, safety, and facility
