Radiologic Technologist / Mammographer (Sacramento) (Per Diem) at Sutter Health in Sacramento, CA

Provides imaging and patient care services at defined levels to patients.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assesses and educates patients according to specific department protocols including BSE.
  • Implements radiation protection and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients.
  • Maintains a quality assurance program according to FDA and MQSA regulations.
  • Maintains mandated continuing education requirements.
  • Operates a variety of complex stationary and mobile diagnostic equipment. P
  • ositions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice, and applicable state/federal regulations.
  • Prepares for and assists the physician in a variety of imaging and/or invasive procedures.
  • Serves as resource/mentor to department staff as well as other members of the health care team as needed.
  • May be required to train / precept students and new techs.


Education/including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration:
  • ARRT Registered Technologist, R.T.(R) in good standing.
  • BLS Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
  • CA State Licensure (CRT) isrequired.
  • CA State Mammography Licensure is required.
  • Mammography certification is required {RT(M)}; or mammography certification eligible.
  • Fluoroscopylicense may be required as per state regulations.
  • Graduate of a JRCERT accredited educational program in radiography and mandated forty hours mammographyeducation.
Must be knowledgeable of technical factors and radiographic views. Understands radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to staff and patients. Able to recognize potential abnormalities and prioritize accordingly.
Previous experiences as a Radiologic Technologist is required. Prior work experience in an acute care facility is preferable.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergentsituations.
