The duties of the Radiology Aide are varied. This position determines urgency and priority of patient appointments, appropriately schedules exams/procedures, provides thorough explanation of exam preparation to patient, and obtains previous films or digital images for comparison.
The Radiology Aide manages the patient flow within the department by communicating patient arrivals to technologists, alerting staff to patients requiring assistance, and escorting patients to changing area. Appropriately addresses patient concerns and resolves problems to the extent possible.
You will answer telephones following emergency and department protocols and monitor patient schedules to ensure timely appointment access, confirms and reschedules appointments, schedules and arranges for appointments in other departments and communicates to referring clinician patients who did not keep their appointments.
You will demonstrate a high level of competence and have the ability to work independently.
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Skills and Experience: Experience in a clinical setting and familiarity with medical terminology as well as strong interpersonal, customer service, time management, computer and organizational skills required. The ability to multi-task and prioritize activities preferred.
Note: May require lifting, bending and reaching for an average of 30 pounds of radiology files.
