We're looking for thoughtful, well rounded Mechanical designers to join our team!  If you are the right one for us, you have 3+ years of experience using SmartPlant, are meticulous about your work, and have a few industrial facility designs in your portfolio of work. We need a Designer/Drafter to support our engineering team on major oil and gas facility expansions for several locations. This role will be based out of  our Houston Texas office.  
 
In this role, you will perform basic computer aided drafting/design assignments requiring a basic understanding of drafting standards, practices, and techniques acquired through formal drafting education or work experience.  Under the general direction of a higher-level Designer/Drafter, Drafters at this level typically take engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, etc., and formalize them into working drawings. 
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Prepare and/or modify engineering drawings. 
 
The drawings that our Designers will create/edit will consist of:  PFDs, intelligent P&IDs, Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs), Utility Flow Diagrams (UFDs), basic arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, and isometrics, etc. Working from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information your layouts, designs, and diagrams will be according to established standards and procedures.  You will also perform extractions of line lists, valve lists and equipment lists.
 
You will utilize technical manuals and directives to ensure compliance with codes and company policies, as well grow your knowledge of various standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME. 
 
You will compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings and understand how to read orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) designs and supplier/manufacturer drawings. 
 

US Citizenship is required.  A National Agency Check will be required.

Pay Range:
$28 per hour with benefits in accordance with SCA  

 

 
REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • 2-year technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent) is preferred
  • Minimum of 4+ years design/drafting experience required. Oil and Gas industry experience preferred. 
  • Minimum 3+ years of P&ID with SmartPlant required
  • Must possess demonstrated proficiency with SmartPlant P&ID (SP3D) Required. SmartSketch Required.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow redline markups; to make corrections and modifications to existing drawings, and create new drawings from templates.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide drawing updates according to assignment per the direction of a designer, engineer or checker.
  • Must have working knowledge of Process, Mechanical, and/or Controls disciplines.
  • Must have training and/or experience performing draft layouts, block diagrams, process flow diagrams, and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively with designers to resolve drawing issues.
  • Must be able to  read scope summary documents
  • Must have demonstrated capability with PC, CADD software and standard engineering (design) business software tools such as Microsoft Office.
