Enterprise Architecture – Enterprise Architect

As a member of the enterprise architecture team within our IT organization, you will report to the Chief Architect. You will drive the development of the future IT landscape, in close collaboration with business leaders, process owners, IT Delivery teams and Solution Architects. You will provide advice and consulting support to our key stakeholders on emerging technologies.  You will be responsible for evaluating technology trends through hands on Proof of Concept evaluation and making recommendations for technology advancements aligned to the overall strategic vision of  New York Life. 

 

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, or Information Technology
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in emerging technologies.
  • Experience in aligning business problem statements to technical solutions
  • Knowledgeable in architecture frameworks
  • Ability to handle complexity and ambiguity, and provide structure to complex problems

Responsibilities

  • Hands on evaluation of technologies as they apply to the New York Life strategic roadmap
  • Contribute to the Insurance Modernization initiative by exploring new capabilities coupled with efforts for overall landscape simplification.
  • Key contributor or owner in defining and improving enterprise technology standards.
  • Advocate data security standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in Enterprise review of new technologies.
  • Partner with technology leaders and technology architects to define/refine strategy and roadmap.
  • Continuous evaluation of emerging technologies in the Insurance market and broader markets that impact Insurance trends

  • A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and understanding of strategy, processes and capabilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, including written and verbal communication as well as presentation
  • Great listener and ability to build partnerships across business and IT divisions to bring insights on the big pictures and architectural directions

  • Ability to make decisions in situations of ambiguity and the absence of complete facts
  • Ability to identify, prioritize and weigh different options and to recommend a value-add solution.
  • Ability to balance what is “right” vs. what is “realistic”, and stay focused.

 

Shared  Responsibilities  
 

  • Responsible for the architecture principles and roadmaps in collaboration with the IT delivery teams
  • Provide guidance and thought leadership to solutions team so that solutions are built in line with Enterprise Architecture principles, standards, and guidelines
  • Lead the creation of relevant and meaningful architecture roadmaps, concepts, and other deliverables that enables the overall business for better performance 
  • Evaluate and participate in new technology evaluation processes (technology evaluations, proof of concepts) to support the business strategy
  • Drive ongoing optimization and standardization of the technologies and tools
  • Define, assess and evaluate solutions to ensure alignment with IT strategies, target architectures and standards
  • Participate as a member of the Architecture Review Board, providing input to architecture decisions
