GSI is currently seeking a Senior Production Manager to join our manufacturing team in Assumption, IL. The Senior Production Manager will be responsible for ensuring proper coordination of long-term operation through planning and monitoring of performance measures. Additionally, the Senior Production Manager will lead their designated business unit’s continuous improvement to meet manufacturing objectives with emphasis on safety, customer quality, and total satisfaction.

 

Note: Relocation assistance is available to the Assumption area for this position.

 

Responsibilities of the Senior Production Manager:

  • Oversee assigned Business Unit
  • Lead, evaluate, and develop teams to successfully achieve Safety, Shipped-Complete-on-Time (SCOT), Lean Transformation and other Key Performance Indicators to achieve financial, customer satisfaction, and employee relations objects for their designated work centers
  • Record and report all incidents to achieve inventory reduction targets, achieve budgeted labor cost, and achieve variable cost targets
  • Achieve 100% SCOT indicator in coordination with Production Supervisor
  • Determine and exceed schedule attainment targets, work with embedded Production Control team to eliminate backorders, communicate with Purchasing team to reduce expedites, and support the lean transformation process demonstrated by on-time achievement of GDP indicators (supporting SCOT and financial objectives)
  •  Evaluate all personnel within work centers and support training objectives
  • Encourage conformance with safety rules and procedures and intercede when violations of rules and/or procedures are identified
  • Utilize safety audits and assessments to drive preventative and corrective action initiatives

 

Required Qualifications of the Senior Production Manager:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership and management experience within a manufacturing environment overseeing at least 20 employees
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience utilizing a “Lean Production System” as part of daily Management Standard Work
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office

 

Preferred Qualifications of the Senior Production Manager:

  • Six Sigma Green or Black belt certification
  • Experience working in low volume/high mix complex manufacturing environment

 

Education of the Senior Production Manager:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technical field required or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Work Environment

This job generally operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee is also exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the work environment. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
