About the Job
We are seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer with proven experience and automation testing skills to ensure the quality of the security products running on the Akamai platform. This role will be focused on testing the security metadata layer of the system, assuring the platform security engine is operating correctly across a wide range of scenarios, and performing optimally as well. The ideal candidate will have experience with creating both functional and performance tests for Enterprise Web Applications and Services. Additionally, the candidate should have a solid understanding of product release processes and configuration management. They should also feel comfortable with Linux/Unix and working with distributed systems. The position also entails coding, shell scripting, and performing data analysis using a variety of tools & frameworks.

About the Team
Our team is part of the Security organization, which has responsibility for the technologies that power Security Products. These include Kona Site Defender, Kona DDoS Defender, Bot Manager, Edge Tokenization, Web Application Firewall and Siteshield. These provide distributed protection from both DDoS and application specific web attacks with on-demand scalability.
Akamai’s global footprint of over 150,000 servers provides an overlay network with scale and capacity to not just deliver the largest web events but also secure the largest Internet brands from attack. The team builds and extends Akamai’s highly fault-tolerant wide area distributed content delivery and application acceleration systems to improve performance, security, reliability and availability of high value web sites. Akamai powers over 85% of the top online retailers, with over $100 billion in annual revenue.

Responsibilities:

* Review functional requirements, design documents, and bug descriptions and create appropriate test plans.
* Create, maintain and execute manual and automated integrated product/system tests to replicate real-world scenarios.
* Keep the status of testing activities updated continually using JIRA issue tracking and Confluence for more detailed design and planning documentation.
* Manage server configurations and code in several test and lab environments.
* Coordinate and develop automation for applying proper configuration management to servers.
* Represent SQA testing status, risks, and issue findings at cross-functional core team meetings.
* Work with developers to isolate, reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that surface during testing.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance Engineering.
* 3+ years of experience working with UNIX/Linux environments and networking protocols such as HTTP/S, DNS, TCP/IP.

* 3+ years of experience programming and/or scripting with languages such as Java, Perl, Python or C/C++.

Desired Qualifications
* Education: Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
* Test automation experience using Selenium.
* Experience with web application deployment, including application and database servers.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
* Highly driven, positive attitude, team player, self-motivated and very flexible.
* Domain knowledge in the area of Web server (IIS/Apache), proxy server and caching technology strongly desired.
* Familiarity with software security weakness, vulnerability and secure code review.
* Familiarity with software attack and exploitation techniques.
