The Initiative is responsible for the discovery and validation of pathogenic mechanisms in Alzheimer's Disease and related diseases and translating these findings into novel strategies for therapeutic intervention.

The successful candidate will have first-hand experience with a variety of in vitro and in vivo models of pathological mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, specifically Alzheimer's Disease, and the ability to utilize these models for target validation, mechanism of action studies and support for drug discovery and development projects.

The position requires in-depth expertise in state-of-the-art molecular, biochemical and cell biological techniques including primary cell culture and tissue processing. Experience with cellular assay development and medium-throughput compound screening is a plus. The incumbent must be capable of identifying and planning projects, independently executing and interpreting experiments to achieve agreed upon objectives. As Scientist II/Senior Scientist, the expectation is that the incumbent contributes to strategic directions, prioritization and scientific ideas and has significant impact on drug discovery/development projects and departmental goals.
