Position Specific Description

At NextEra Energy, we are taking our Staff Landman (Lead Land Services Representative) to the next level. This position is part of the Gas Infrastructure team. NextEra Energy is the largest utility consumer in the United States of natural gas to generate electricity; in 2014, we used 736 Bcf of natural gas. The economics of natural gas are critical to nearly every one of the company's businesses. NextEra Energy began investing in shale gas production in 2008, and today has more than $1 billion deployed in several shales around the country.

In addition to the responsibilities below, this person will also be responsible for the following:

  • Negotiates and directs acquisition efforts
  • Negotiates various contracts as part of acquisition and development efforts
  • Manages land efforts in a horizontal drilling program
  • Facilities and directs state regulatory needs
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of Oklahoma regulations and managing an active drilling program a plus

Job Overview

Employees in this role manage multiple land acquisition projects with multiple contracted Land Acquisition agents concurrently. The job will provide leadership to the contracted resources and act as an interface back to NEER Development, Legal, EandC and Environmental teams. This position will be located in field office with significant travel requirements.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Prioritizes and directs land agents acquisition efforts
• Analyzes project needs to acquire sufficient land to develop
• Facilitates contracted resources interacting with internal departments
• Provides reports to management regarding land acquisitions
• Handles regular calls with Developers to understand evolving needs
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
• Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
• Experience:7+ years
