SUMMARY

Functions as primary coordinator for the scheduling of all surgical, anesthesia and GI lab procedures and data entry in the computer system.  Functions as primary data entry person for charges and charge reconciliation occurring in Surgery, Recovery, SSU and GI labs.  Enters clinical data into the Midas system.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Schedules all elective and emergency surgical/anesthesia/GI procedures via computer system.
  • Verifies all patient charges for Surgery, PACU, SSU and GI lab via computer system.
  • Complete charge reconciliation and charge rejections for Surgery, PACU, SSU and GI departments.
  • Coordinates patient flow to and from surgery with other departments, maintaining scheduling system to meet changing surgeon/department needs.
  • Coordinates OR schedule to meet surgeon needs and OR availability; informing surgeons of last minute changes in schedule.

Education and/or Experience                                                              

 

High School Diploma or GED plus six months to one year related experience and/or training. Medical Terminology.  Good customer services skills.  Knowledge of CPT coding helpful.  Calm approach to conflict resolution.  Able to tolerate stress in fast paced environment dealing with many customers.

 

Computer Skills                                                          

 

Microsoft Office products, Meditech database software, and scheduling.  Able to operate PC, printer, fax and copy machines.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

 

Basic CPR Certification required.
