We are seeking an experienced Technical Trainer III for our Safety Assessmentsite located in Shrewsbury, MA.

Develop, deliver, document, and reports technical skills training and programs involving both small and large laboratory animal species. Conduct classroom and on-the-job training sessions and maintain training areas, learning laboratory and training animal colony in accordance with facility SOPs, Charles River policy and applicable Federal regulations.

The following are minimum requirements related to theTechnical Trainer IIIposition.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in life sciences or related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum three years of previous training and successful "hands -on" experience of technical animal care procedures for both small and large animal species, plus an additional 3 years of laboratory animal science and/or veterinary technical job roles required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Certification/Licensure: AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist level (LATG) preferred. Candidates with LAT certification may be considered and must achieve LATG certification within one year of hire/promotion.
  • Other: Experience in the development of technical training programs and modules required. Experience in the delivery of instructor led training (ILT), synchronous on-line learning (e.g. webinars), and asynchronous (e-learning) methodologies preferred.
  • Ability to handle and manipulate all common site appropriate laboratory species. Knowledge of small and large animal biomethodology to include: breeding, common diseases, physical exams, anatomy, anesthesia, safe handling and restraint techniques, proper use of PPE, euthanasia, blood collection and injection techniques. Working knowledge of veterinary treatment administration, surgery/aseptic technique and anesthesia techniques. Proficient in basic technical skills and the operation of data collection equipment. Knowledge of federal regulations and guidelines relating to the care of laboratory animals and conduct of non-clinical laboratory studies. Understanding of routine study design and animal use protocols. Ability to work independently.
