Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G) has openings for PART TIME Teller in our Elizabeth, N.J. Customer Call Center. This position entails interacting with customers on issues related to their gas and electric service. The successful candidate must be a self-starter and able to handle customer contacts in a pleasant and courteous manner, with specific focus on demonstrating empathy with each customer interaction.

 

Receives and accounts for customers’ payments, balances cash receipts daily, and performs related work.  Duties include such work as:

 

Receive payments tendered by customers, render required receipts, and receipt cashier’s coupons and other records of payment.

 

Receive payments turned in by Company representatives and others authorized to receive customers’ payments, and prove with employees’ balance sheets and other records and listings of corresponding cash coupons.

 

Compare payments and corresponding cashier’s coupons received by mail, render required receipts, and receipt cash coupons.

 

Sort receipted cash coupons and other records of payment in specified order, preliminary to listing.

 

Balance cash receipts daily, against listing of cash coupons, and turn in to authorized person cash receipts together with accompanying records.

 

Make authorized petty cash disbursements and account for disbursements, as directed.

 

Report receipt of out-of-district payments on delinquent accounts to the office concerned in accordance with prescribed instructions, as directed.

 

Cash checks in accordance with prescribed instructions.

 

Assist employees of a higher classification, under close supervision, as assigned.

 

Perform other similar or less skilled related District Office work, as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Must have a minimum of a high school education, or equivalent business experience.

 

Must have a minimum of two years’ Customer Operations experience, or equivalent.

 

Should have a good working knowledge of currency and the appropriateness of commercial paper.

 

Must have above-average poise and tact, as indicated by the ability to handle a large volume of routine customer contacts in a pleasant and courteous manner.

 

Must be neat and accurate in work as indicated by the ability to perform routine operations without close supervision.

 

Must be able to understand, transmit, and apply oral and written instructions.

 

Must have a general knowledge of the Customer Operations organization and of departmental functions.
