Your challenge!

Reporting to the Plant Manager, with a dotted line to Director of Administration, this position will be responsible for preparing and interpreting financial statements as well as the annual budget.  Manage Month-end, quarter-end, and year end closing.  Will play an active role in the daily operations to guide production and inventory management. 


Job Responsibilities

Control, develop and improve the various transactions and processes according to accounting standards (Sarbanes Oxley).  Coordinate with centralized shared services of accounting transactions, i.e. invoicing, payables, receivables and information systems.  Supervise Accounting Clerk.  Work closely with management team and supervisors to ensure cost effectiveness in business decisions.  Prepare and present monthly sales, financial results and production analysis.  Prepare “Capex” proposals, track spending of capital funds.  Reconcile various ledger and accounts.  Responsible for costing of new products

Determine and interpret the relationship between financial results and operational performance to identify improvement opportunities

Analyze operational and financial performance indicators to contribute to the unit's decisions

Maximize use of the unit's working capital

Help the unit's management team implement and monitor business processes (including the budget process, analyses, and communication of internal and external financial information)

Implement financial, sales, administrative and accounting management best practices that apply to the unit

Plan and lead the reengineering of the Group's business processes in the unit

Health & Safety

Develop and maintain a healthy and safe work environment for all of his/hers unit's employees

Promote sound occupational health and safety management

Corporate Responsibility and Governance

Maintain an effective control structure to minimize business risks related to operations and fraud

Foster and promote Cascades’ ethical behaviors, culture and values

Guarantee the financial information produced is reliable and complete

Additional responsibilities

Perseverence, rigour, teamwork and planning and organization required.  Continuous improvement, accountability and ability to influence others.  Must be an expert in Excel.  SAP (Fi, CO) MES proficiency strongly preferred.  Microsoft Office required.  AS400 knowledge and experience a plus.
