General Summary

This position is responsible for the development of programs designed to support the VSP Doctor Network. Working across VSP Global, the successful candidate will set the strategy for the Premier Program, including the development of products, tools and services that support program participants. This includes, but is not limited to, the development of training and education programs for doctors and staff, as well as innovative new products being developed by The SHOP.

Essential Functions

Develop the Premier Program strategy and oversee the execution of all Premier related programs across the division and across VSP Global.


Oversee and enhance the Premier Academy to deliver education and training programs that effectively enable our Premier doctors to differentiate and compete.


Set the “go to market” strategy for products coming out of the Shop, successfully equipping Premier doctors with the latest innovations that make meaningful change in their businesses.


Effectively establish and maintain relationships with all other line of business strategists in order to coordinate and maximize efforts of the Premier program, related training, rewards programs and events.


Partnering with our Customer Insights Group, use market research and competitive analysis to understand customer needs and competitive landscape to shape program strategy and develop new products, tools and services.


Working together with the Strategic Partnerships Group, identify areas of customer need that could benefit from partnerships with others inside and outside the eyecare industry.


Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field or equivalent experience

Minimum fifteen years of management experience in areas of business development, optical industry, marketing, and provider networks

Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization, from the VSP Board and executives, to staff in a variety of functions and disciplines

Strong leadership skills with proven ability to lead in a matrixed organization

Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties.


Working Conditions / Physical Demands

The working environment is generally favorable.  Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust etc.
