Summary:
The Operations Specialist is involved with many different areas of responsibility in Investment Operations. These areas include account set up and closings, reconciliation, discrepancy issue resolution, and data integrity. The Operations Specialist will also be involved with special projects as they occur. This is a hybrid role, 3 days in office and 2 days remote.
Responsibilities:
- Complete the account opening, closing, split, and transfer process within established timelines
- Perform quality assurance review to custodian data without error.
- Set up new securities on GW&K systems using Bloomberg/ICE and ensure proper prices are applied for valuation.
- Work with the GW&K Client Service Team to perform cost restructures upon request to ensure integrity of gain/loss reporting.
- Reconcile assigned accounts daily/monthly via automated systems to ensure that all accounts are in proof with the most current date; utilize custodian online tools to obtain account information where needed.
- Research transaction and position discrepancies between GW&K and custodian banks; work with trade settlements personnel and utilize custodian web tools to research and resolve account issues timely in an effort to minimize financial risk.
- Maintain working relationships with other internal groups including client service teams, technology group, compliance and traders to troubleshoot and resolve issues in client accounts
- Process transactions to core accounting systems where necessary as related to client accounts utilizing various methods of technology.
- Other responsibilities as determined by the group manager(s).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Business) and 1-2 years prior related industry experience; recent college graduate with industry co-op or internship experience will be considered.
- An understanding of (or a desire to understand) portfolio accounting and the investment operations process.
- Interest and desire to understand technology related issues, tasks and responsibilities; participate in technology initiatives.
- Computer literate; must have basic knowledge of MS Excel. Desire to learn new database systems, familiarity with SQL query writing is helpful.
- Excellent attention to detail a must.
- Problem solving and analytical skills; must trouble shoot one-off problems and investigate issues using internal systems and resources. The candidate should be inquisitive and an idea generator.
- Willingness to learn about investment management from the operational level and apply that knowledge daily; familiarity with characteristics of securities a plus, including; municipal bonds, corporate bonds, mortgage backed securities, U.S. and foreign equities.

- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi task to ensure completion of work and resolution of day to day issues within the established timeframes
