    Job Description
    This position will be open until filled. Application review will begin 02/16/2019. For full consideration all application related material should be submitted by 02/15/2019.

    The Department of Biological Sciences provides quality instruction for courses that directly support programs in the Ralph and Betty Englestad School of Health Sciences and the Associate of Science Degree in Biology. The Department is currently seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position. The successful candidate will:
  • Teach transferable, entry-level anatomy and physiology lectures and laboratories, specifically BIOL 223 and BIOL 224 (primary teaching assignment)
  • Teach transferable entry level microbiology lectures and labs, specifically BIOL 251, as a secondary assignment (secondary teaching assignment)
  • Teach transferable, entry level, major's and non-major's biology lectures and laboratories including, but not limited to, BIOL 196, BIOL 189, and BIOL 101 (secondary teaching assignment)
  • Develop syllabi and course materials; evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course learning outcomes
  • Participate in course and program assessment and in program development
  • Participate in discipline, department, and school meetings and activities; serve on department, school, and college-wide committees
  • Teaching assignments may be on multiple campuses and include day, evening, and/or weekend classes.

    Required Qualifications
  • Master of Science degree in a biological science from a regionally accredited College or University
  • At least one year of experience teaching anatomy and physiology at the college level

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a biological science from a regionally accredited College or University
  • At least one year of experience teaching anatomy and physiology at a community college
  • At least one year of experience teaching microbiology at the college level
  • At least one year of experience teaching majors or non-majors biology at the college level
  • Demonstrated experience with assessment of course and program student learning outcomes
  • Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.

    Salary
    Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience . A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for initial salary placement purposes.
