The Associate Director, Engineering, will be responsible for the management and oversight of the technical support team for the Packaging team within the Rota E2E End-to-End, at the West Point site.  The area completes secondary packaging of pre-filled syringes and tubes as well as some glass vial packaging.  The primary responsibility of the individual will be leading the technical teams in their support of run the business activities that include operations support, artwork management, equipment/automation troubleshooting, implementation of process/ equipment changes, complaints, deviation management, installation of robust CAPAs, among other related duties.  The Associate Director will have overall responsibility for the performance and results of the technical operations team supporting the IPT.    


Additional responsibilities include the following: 

  • Builds talent by coaching and developing the members of the Technical Operations team to ensure appropriate breadth, depth and skill sets across the team to maintain and drive the business forward.  Provides/solicits regular feedback from team and colleagues. Develops technical/professional staff through coaching, assignment selection and associated training.
  • Manages team resources and prioritizes as aligned with business needs to include run the Business support (e.g. investigations, complaints), project support, and continuous improvement activities – e.g. improve safety/compliance, reduce cost and increase consistency and efficiency. Recruit and hire team members as necessary. 
  • Collaborates and engages with multiple functional organizations such as Operations, Quality, Automation, Global Engineering Services, Procurement, Finance, Global Technical Operations, Supply Chain Management, Regulatory, among others, to develop and maintain processes that meet cGMP and business requirements.
  • Provides technical guidance to staff, colleagues or customers as well as anticipates and interprets the customer needs to identify solutions.  Includes approval of technical documentation including investigation, protocols, qualification, validation etc. as required.  Responsible for presenting technical discussions to regulatory agencies during inspections.


Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:  

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or other equivalent technical field

Required Experience and Skills:   

  • Minimum seven (7) years’ post-bachelor’s degree experience in a GMP functional area or support of a GMP functional area, such as Operations, Technical Operations, Quality Operations
  • Experience in deviation management and/or change control and/or equipment support and/or project support role.
  • Highly developed communication, leadership and teamwork skills. 
  • Ability to manage projects/work to schedule/deadlines.
  • Experience managing direct reports

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in secondary packaging operations or technical support of bio/pharmaceutical products
