PURPOSE: To develop and generate CAD model design, geometry, and specifications for grille placement, customer approval, and other CAD needs for delivery partners and customers. Maintain and ensure design intent and best practices are being followed during model creation. Work interdependently to ensure that CAD models, changes to the models, and product documentation are accurately recorded in the database. Responds to customer/delivery partner requests/inquiries. Mentors and trains the Custom Product Drafter I on the standards, best practices, and processes required to generate and manage the design models and documentation.

  • Applies CAD expertise and knowledge in the creation and delivery of product drawings for use by manufacturing, vendors, delivery partners and end use customers.
  • Works closely with Customer Service Representatives, RTQ&E, Manufacturing, Materials Management, Suppliers and customers to define requirements and provide timely and accurate solutions.
  • Engages in frequent contact with manufacturing, vendors, delivery partners and end use customers to discuss process flow and product issues.
  • Conducts effective verbal and graphical communications to facilitate customer understanding of, and satisfaction with, the product solutions presented.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement team and cross functional improvements.
  • Provides proactive support of the team's CAD support tools.
  • Provides leadership for the development and ongoing maintenance of the team's CAD drafting standards, documentation processes and document storage methods.
  • Maintain and review key performance indicators (KPI's) and recommend adjustments.
  • Stays abreast of current CAD and architectural technologies, and prioritizes their application to Andersen's CAD support services.
  • Additional work to be established, prioritized, and reviewed by Specialist or Supervisor.
  • Represents the team by proactively securing and reinforcing customer relationships and process improvement opportunities in alignment with department strategies.
  • Conducts presentations and training sessions to share technical and process knowledge with manufacturing, vendors, delivery partners and end use customers.
  • Participate in training sessions related to customer service, product, process, and technical capability.
  • Proactively mentors and coaches less experienced team members.
  • Able to act as lead for intermediate level assignments/smaller projects.
  • Provides solutions under limited supervision requiring advanced process knowledge and the exercise of judgment in application.


  • Associate of Science Degree in architectural technology or related field with a minimum of 1-3 years' experience in drafting or related area of work is strongly preferred.
  • Experience required demonstrates an understanding of the basic principles and operation of a work area, with a growing ability to apply them in a variety of assignments
  • Experience in an engineering or research environment acquired through a course of specialized study (typically, a two-year degree program) or equivalent on the job training and work.
  • Experience demonstrates a strong interest and basic aptitude to work in a technical or scientific field.
  • Experience with CAD, PC and software applications.


  • Functional 3D solid modeling CAD Skills
  • Functional Design fundamentals
  • Working knowledge of a Product Data Management system.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • Microsoft Project Management tools
  • Basic Working knowledge of material characteristics and tooling concepts
