Description

Apex Systems has exciting opportunities for experienced Chemists to work for a Global Pharmaceutical company in South New Jersey. Ideal candidates will have 1-2 years' of analytical experience, but entry-level graduates will be considered.

This is a 24/7 operation so must be able to work 12 hour rotating shift schedules.

The QC Chemist applies scientific principles to perform both routine and more complex analysis on raw material, in process, and final product samples in support of the business needs. The incumbent performs analytical work as directed by a QC Supervisor. The incumbent utilizes established instrumental procedures and/or analytical methods as provided from compendial sources, in-house testing monographs, and protocols. In addition, the incumbent should possess sufficient knowledge and experience to apply a technique within their area of expertise to new applications as required. In addition, the incumbent at this level should possess sufficient knowledge and experience to diagnose and solve method issues with minimal assistance from a senior analyst.

Key responsibilities:

The purpose of the Quality Control Chemist is to perform chemical testing of in-process, raw materials, intermediates, and finished product samples in support of GMP production and stability testing. They execute standard analyses with regular supervision.

  • Able to perform standard quality control laboratory techniques such as: HPLC, GC, UV, LC-MS, KF, FTIR, NMR, and wet chemical methods such as titrations
  • Conducts analyses and reports results
  • Sets up, troubleshoots, and makes adjustments to laboratory equipment as necessary
  • Reviews other team member’s analytical data for accuracy
  • Works with other chemists on shift to support product campaigns
  • May prepare written documents including generation and revision of SOPs and other GMP documents.
  • Contributes to the technical growth and continuous improvement of the department
  • Supports laboratory investigations through testing under direction of quality control supervision
  • Executes safety initiatives in the laboratory that maintain and improve the work environment.

Scope:

  • Responsible for personal %RFT (Right the First Time) in respect to analyst errors, equipment breakdowns, method issues, etc.
  • Works with production operators daily to meet testing demands
  • May aid in daily decisions around resource planning (what each chemist will be doing, what samples are tested when etc.)

Special Factors:

  • The job includes regular activity in the laboratory which includes wearing personal protective equipment along with possibly handling controlled and highly potent substances.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science
  • Able to operate standard QC laboratory equipment (HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV, KF, etc.)
  • Able to update documents in word
