\nWe are seeking a Senior Investment Accountant to support the accounting and reporting of a diversified investment portfolio including public and private fixed income, global equities, private funds, and non-USD currency exposures. This role is critical in overseeing outsourced investment accounting services, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting accurate financial reporting under GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).

\n• Provide daily oversight of outsourced investment accounting provider, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with service level agreements

\n• Review and validate journal entries, reconciliations, valuations, and reports.

\n• Monitor compliance with company accounting policies and statutory\/GAAP requirements.

\n• Analyze complex investment transactions and ensure proper accounting treatment.

\n• Evaluate and apply new accounting guidance.

\n• Ensure adherence to Model Audit Rule controls.

\n• Proficiency in PAM or similar.

\nResponsible for management through conclusion, including trial, of litigated claims including auto 1st and 3rd party, and homeowner's claims. Provides input and direction to defense counsel and responsible for ultimate resolution through providing settlement authority and participating in negotiations. Responsibility for effective management of defense costs and indemnity.

\n• Completes analysis of claim, which includes examining facts of the loss and other applicable factors. Creates discovery plan, including depositions, retention of experts, Independent Medical Exams (IMEs) and accident reconstruction for 1st and 3rd party claims from a minor to extremely complex nature.
\n• Interacts directly with defense counsel providing direction, authority for resolution (i.e., settle or go to trial) and ensures appropriate outcome in balancing defense costs and indemnity
\n• Conducts comprehensive review of liability, damages, coverage and risk to assess for individual independent settlement authority up to $50,000.
\n• Collaborates with defense counsel to identify strategy for negotiations and provides input as the face of the organization via phone or in-person mediations and settlement conferences.
\n• Authorizes, approves and monitors budget for outside counsel, and utilizes bill review software to analyze defense expenses.
\n• Prepares and presents recommendations for litigated cases for review with local and executive management to the IELT level.
\n• Secures authority up to the highest levels for resolution.
\nRequired Experience, Education and Skills<\/strong>
\n
\n• A total of 6-7 years of claims experience with a minimum of 2-4 years Senior Casualty role experience or equivalent complex casualty\/litigation experience
\n• 1 year of Litigation experience
\n• Proficiency or ability to obtain proficiency in the handling of minor, moderate and complex litigated claims
\n• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
\n• Proficient in ability to work independently.
\n• Strong decision-making ability
\n• Extensive understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements and ability to develop proficiency in standards of civil procedure
\n• Ability to travel and to work extended hours and\/or weekends
\n• Proficient oral and written communication skills and ability to organize and present complex facts to executive management
\n• Strong math skills, basic computer skills and ability to type at least 30 wpm
\n• HS\/GED or a minimum of 3 years of experience in casualty claims role within P&C insurance industry

\n• Collaborates with defense counsel to identify strategy for negotiations and provides input as the face of the organization via phone or in-person mediations and settlement conferences.
\n• Authorizes, approves and monitors budget for outside counsel, and utilizes bill review software to analyze defense expenses.
\n• Prepares and presents recommendations for litigated cases for review with local and executive management to the IELT level.
\n• Secures authority up to the highest levels for resolution.
\nRequired Experience, Education and Skills<\/strong>
\n
\n• A total of 6-7 years of claims experience with a minimum of 2-4 years Senior Casualty role experience or equivalent complex casualty\/litigation experience
\n• 1 year of Litigation experience
\n• Proficiency or ability to obtain proficiency in the handling of minor, moderate and complex litigated claims
\n• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
\n• Proficient in ability to work independently.
\n• Strong decision-making ability
\n• Extensive understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements and ability to develop proficiency in standards of civil procedure
\n• Ability to travel and to work extended hours and\/or weekends
\n• Proficient oral and written communication skills and ability to organize and present complex facts to executive management
\n• Strong math skills, basic computer skills and ability to type at least 30 wpm
\n• HS\/GED or a minimum of 3 years of experience in casualty claims role within P&C insurance industry
