Float Glass Engineer Facilitate executing continuous improvement in all areas of the Float operation, including batching (batch house and batch feeder operations, batch formulation) and melting; Implement adjustments to gas distributions, electric boost levels, and cooler configurations; Furnace repair work; Troubleshoot included defect, surface defects (top tin, bottom tin, bottom deformation), and optical quality issues; Forming; Implement adjustments to reheat setups, top roll setups, cooler configurations; Annealing; Implement adjustments to heat setups and cooling fan configurations; Troubleshoot lehr breakage and surface quality issues; Supervision; May serve as back-up Shift Supervisor. Skills Required: 24 months of raw float glass manufacturing experience as a Process Engineer; Hands-on approach to problem solving and analysis; Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Excellent Analytical Skills; Live by example the Carlex Values Safety, Accountability, Results Oriented, Team Approach, Customer Focused, and Strong Integrity and Ethics; Additional responsibility is to be able to teach these values to others and encourage them to join the team; Ability to listen to operators while they describe problems with the process and then effectively communicate to them possible solutions, others.
