Job Description
The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C., and Chicago. The AHA offers a flexible hybrid work schedule of three days in the office and two days working remotely.
The Specialist supports the implementation and coordination of initiatives focused on behavioral health, violence prevention, and workforce, including day-to-day program operations, stakeholder engagement activities and facilitating the dissemination of program content across multiple platforms. Working closely with program leadership and internal and external partners, ensures projects, communications, and virtual and in-person convenings are executed efficiently and professionally. Essential Functions
- Coordinate and support execution of program activities across behavioral health, violence prevention and workforce initiatives, ensuring assigned tasks and responsibilities are performed efficiently, effectively and within timelines.
- Coordinate project workflows and deliverables by maintaining timelines, trackers, and documentation to support multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-association colleagues to develop and disseminate program content to reach intended audiences, including newsletters, toolkits, case studies, podcasts, presentations, and social media materials. Support production of recurring communications and campaigns to achieve these tasks, including email distributions and digital communications.
- Prepare for and execute meetings, convenings, and events (in-person and virtual), including logistics, scheduling, agendas, registrations, and post-event follow-up with guidance from program leadership as needed.
- Provide stakeholder engagement support by coordinating advisory groups, committees, and external partners, including assisting with preparation of agendas, aggregation and distribution of materials, and creation of meeting summaries.
- Maintain and update stakeholder data systems and contact lists, ensuring accuracy across platforms, distribution lists, and engagement records.
- Organize and maintain up to date digital content across platforms, including updating webpages, supporting content development, and monitoring online communities and engagement channels.
- Track and report on program activities and engagement metrics, compiling data and insights to inform team decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Apply strong written and oral communication skills to produce high-quality, audience-centered materials, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with organizational voice and standards.
- Perform a defined set of recurring processes and program tasks, demonstrating ownership by proactively advancing work, identifying next steps, and ensuring timely completion with minimal oversight.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Education
- Bachelor's Degree Public health, epidemiology, social science, health administration, public policy, healthcare or related fields Required
Minimum Qualifications: Work Experience
- 3+ years Experience participating in multiple aspects of projects and supporting the development of programs, including assisting in project research Required
- Experience working in health systems, social services, or in the public health sector Preferred
Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of health care industry trends, with specific attention to health care workforce, behavioral health, and violence prevention - Required
- Knowledge of meeting planning and logistics - Required
- Intermediate computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills - Required
- Ability to learn analytical software - Required
- Ability to prioritize work on multiple projects and meet deadlines - Required
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team - Required
Salary Information:
Commensurate with related experience. The AHA is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
