Overview
Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America’s (PhRMA) is seeking a bright, kind and goal-oriented Sr. Director of FP&A to support its Finance efforts.
The role focuses on the organization’s financial planning, forecasting and analysis activities. You will work with colleagues within Administration (in Accounting, AP, Procurement & IT) as well as business partners and senior leadership across PhRMA.
This role requires advanced strategic thinking and communication skills, as the Sr. Director of FP&A collaborates closely with senior leadership.
The Sr. Director will:
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process in a hands-on fashion
- Collaborative leadership – coordinate closely with all other PhRMA departments and oversee budget and forecasting activities by their staff.
- Compile the consolidated budget and forecasts which support PhRMA’s top line revenues and spending activities throughout the year.
- Monitor and evaluate budgets for alignment to PhRMA members’ priorities and to ensure accountability.
- With the VP Finance, establish timelines and manage deliverables to those timelines.
Lead the financial reporting process in a hands-on fashion
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reporting for the executive team.
- Analyze spending for trends and variances.
- Creating established and ad-hoc audience-appropriate, impactful, summaries to communicate with senior leadership.
- Provide meaningful analysis and reporting to all levels within the organization in a way that can be easily understood by non-financial readers.
- Partner with department staff to monitor spending activity versus budget, providing regular review opportunities to assist them in adhering to their annual targets.
Lead development of financial reports
- Using PowerBI and working with developers, create analyses and tools to allow business partners a level of self-service reporting, while minimizing their overall effort to accomplish these activities allowing them to maximize their time on PhRMA’s outward-facing priorities.
- Review reports for accuracy, identify and work with department staff to resolve any discrepancies and to resolve reporting inquiries.
Represent the Finance department by managing cross-functional projects
- Act as project manager for finance-driven projects.
- Successfully initiate, plan, design, monitor/control and execute on special projects as needed to meet PhRMA’s strategic initiatives and priorities, and to improve internal financial processes and operations.
Professional Experience / Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.
- Additional certifications or experience are a plus.
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience demonstrating accounting acumen, career progression, increasing responsibilities and complexity of work.
- Exceptional report writing ability and acumen to create impactful analysis.
- Excellent presentation development skills utilizing PowerPoint and tables, charts, graphs, or other materials developed in other tools.
- Strong systems technology skills, with demonstrated experience in advanced Excel, and other typical software applications and databases.
- Thorough understanding of principles and techniques used in budget and forecast administration.

Potential Salary
$141,100 - $197,600 per annum. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
