This position will be for the dates of July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027 and is classified as a Clinical Instructor (faculty) role in the Department of Cardiac Surgery. The University of Michigan has a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary and internationally recognized program in the surgical management of advanced heart failure including mechanical circulatory support, heart transplant, high risk coronary revascularization, and treatment of advanced valvular disease along with strong programs in clinical outcomes research, translational research and clinical trial management. Clinical responsibilities will be based at the Frankel Cardiovascular Center at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This role will provide the individual with training, education, and technical skills in the preoperative evaluation and planning, operative management, postoperative care and follow-up of these patients. Emergency Management is a key department within the Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS). It serves the U-M community by preparing for, protecting against, and responding to a wide range of emergencies that could affect our people, operations, and environment. The team works collaboratively across the university to develop plans, conduct training, and coordinate resources to enhance campus safety and resilience.<\/p>
The Associate Director of Emergency Management reports directly to the Director of Emergency Management and assists with university-wide guidance and coordination on crisis and emergency preparedness. The position will be based in Ann Arbor but will provide strategic integration for our DPSS emergency management functions at the UM-Flint and UM-Dearborn campuses and will have functional supervision (dotted line) over the Emergency Management and Security Infrastructure coordinators on each campus. The position is responsible for assisting the Director with the continuous improvement and facilitation of the university's comprehensive emergency management program, focusing on emergency preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery planning efforts across the enterprise.<\/p>
